- President and CEO
Leonard Tallerine is a graduate of
Rice University’s Economics/Advanced Management Institute
and completed University of Texas at Austin Continuing Studies
Program on Reservoir Engineering. He holds degrees in accounting
and business administration from The University of Houston.
Mr. Tallerine began his career as a CPA in the Houston, New
York and Washington, D.C. offices of Price Waterhouse and
KPMG from 1972 through 1980.
Beginning in January 1981, Mr. Tallerine
served as co-managing general partner of PGI, Ltd. (the Michael
E. DeBakey family oil and gas and real estate investment vehicle)
until 1986. From 1986 to 1991, Mr. Tallerine was an independent
oil and gas producer.
Mr. Tallerine acquired Goldking in late
1991, then reorganized and expanded the company’s asset
base. After selling the company to Panaco in July 1997, Mr.
Tallerine began rebuilding an oil and gas asset base which
he later sold to GulfWest Energy (now Crimson Exploration)
and White Oak Energy in a series of transactions between 2001
and 2003.
Beginning in 2004, Mr. Tallerine once again
grew Goldking through a balanced program of oil and gas property
acquisitions along the U.S. Gulf Coast, followed by the subsequent
development, production enhancement and exploration of those
properties. In May 2007, Goldking was sold to Dune Energy
for $328.5 million, consisting of $310.5 million in cash and
$18.0 million in Dune common stock.
In the Dune transaction, Mr. Tallerine retained
the Goldking name, and subsequent to the sale, reestablished
Goldking to continue pursuing opportunities in the oil and
gas industry. As the sole shareholder and CEO, Mr. Tallerine
currently is directing Goldking’s overall business development
plan, which includes assembling a portfolio of oil and gas
properties and mineral interests. |
